Eligibility Requirements

The Indefinite Arts Centre serves adults (18 years old or more) with developmental disabilities who live in the Calgary area. A person seeking service must be eligible to receive funding through the Calgary Region Community Board for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, and should demonstrate a general interest in becoming involved in the creative process. Individuals participating in our programs do not require previous art-making experience, but rather need to indicate a desire to be engaged in artistic activity.

Those who require help in the washroom, with eating or drinking, or significant help in the studio must provide their own assistants in order to participate.

Artists at the Centre are encouraged to participate in the program for as long as they choose.

The Indefinite Arts Centre has runs four program sessions per year. We are closed for three weeks at the beginning of July and three weeks at the end of December.

Morning studio time is from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon studio time is from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The artist lounge is open from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and we encourage our artists to come early, stay through lunch or linger afterwards for a quick coffee and visit.

Artists currently attending programs will be automatically registered in the next session unless we are notified differently. The artist will be billed for the upcoming quarter approximately two weeks before the end of the current session.

The dates for 2017 are:
Winter: Monday, January 3 – Thursday, March 30
Spring: Monday, April 3 – Thursday, June 22
Summer: Monday, July 17 – Thursday, September 28
Fall: Monday, October 2 – Thursday, December 7

Costs are based on the number of weeks in a session. Artists also pay for the supplies they use. Costs for the 2017 sessions will be: $5.00 per week of the session, payable for the full session.
